Lady M's make history with first ever Regional Win in Volleyball

The Lady Musketeers volleyball team made history on Saturday with a 3 set sweep (25-9, 25-4, 25-11) of Southwestern Hanover to bring home Eastern's first ever Regional title in volleyball. Senior Sidney Burton had an excellent serving match finishing with 10 aces highlighted by a serving run that contributed to an 18-0 start to set 2. Burton also had 4 kills, 7 digs and 1 block. Senior Addie Smith lead with 10 kills to go with 5 digs, 1 Ace, 1 Block and 16 assists. Senior Avery Smith had 9 kills, 7 digs, 1 ace and 1 block. Senior Eliza Starrett had 6 digs and 3 aces. Junior Emma Brawner had 4 blocks and 4 kills, Sophomore Ashton Johanningsmeier had 4 kills and 1 ace while sister Allie Johanningsmeier had 8 digs and 2 aces. Leah Hobson had 2 kills and 1 dig. The 4th ranked Lady Musketeers (30-5) will travel to Bedford North Lawrence for the 2A semi-state and play 10th ranked Triton Central (24-8) at 12 pm in the second semi-final game. The first semi-final game will be between #2 Barr Reeve (30-5) and #7 Greencastle (30-4) at 10 am. The Championship match will be at BNL on Saturday evening at 7pm. Tickets are $12 per session and can be purchased at the door or online at www.IHSAA.org.
