The Lady Musketeers opened up their 2025 campaign at home against the South Central Lady Rebels on Monday night. The JV won in 3 sets against the visiting Lady Rebels before the Varsity team swept the Lady Rebels in 3 sets 25-11, 25-6 and 25-14. Leading the way in kills was Avery Smith with 12 followed by Leah Hobson with 8, Sidney Burton with 6 and Addie Smith with 5. Addie Smith had 9 digs while Eliza Starrett had 8. Emma Brawner had 1 block and 1 assisted block. Addie Smith had 23 assists to go with 5 Aces. The very next night, the ladies traveled to face one of the top programs in Southern Indiana, the Brownstown Central Lady Braves. BC is coming off of two straight State Runner-ups in 2A and have moved up to 3A for the next two years due to the IHSAA success factor. The Lady Musketeers were very competitive in all 3 sets, but couldn't get over the hump losing 25-17, 25-20, and 25-20. To take the next step against that level of competition, they will need to clean up some errors in various ways, but it was a great early season test to find out where they are at in order to work to improve and move forward. Leading the way statistically in this match was Eliza Starrett with 27 digs and 1 service ace. Avery Smith had 10 kills, 9 digs, 1 Ace and 1 assisted block. Addie Smith had 19 assists, 9 digs and 1 block. The JV squad had an opportunity to win set 1 losing in a tight set before falling in set 2, but it was a great learning experience for them. Both teams are 1-1 heading into the weekend. Both teams will play Salem in game 2 of the County tournament at 10:15 am on Saturday at Borden. Host Borden will play WW at 9:00 am. The consolation match will follow game 2 immediately with the championship match afterwards.
