Lady Musketeer Senior softball player Bracie Jackson recently signed her letter of intent to play for the Kankakee Cavaliers in front of family, teammates and friends on Friday, November 1st. Kankakee Community College is located in Kankakee, Illinois, which is about an hour south of Chicago, Illinois. Bracie joins the Cavaliers who are a member of the National Junior College Athletics Association. KCC has a winning tradition having won the National Championship in 2015 to go along with eight Region championships since 2010. Bracie plans to major in radiology and will pitch and play outfield for the Lady Cavs. Bracie shared, “I chose Kankakee Community College because I felt like it was the best choice for me. The college offers a strong program in radiology and I was impressed by the supportive community. I believe that attending Kankakee College will provide me with opportunities and resources needed to achieve my academic and athletic goals. The decision was clear to me after visiting the campus and meeting with the faculty and coaches and players, who were incredibly welcoming and encouraging. I’m excited about the journey ahead and confident that Kankakee College is the right place for me to grow and succeed.” During her career thus far at Eastern, Bracie has compiled 90 career hits while hitting .370 in 243 at bats. As a pitcher, she has 18 career wins while featuring a .280 ERA. Opponents have a cool .230 batting average against Bracie as she has amassed 432 career strikeouts. Bracie has been instrumental in a great deal of team success for the Lady Musketeers softball program, who won sectional titles in 2022 and 2023 and went on to win the first Lady Musketeer softball Regional title in 2022. Bracie reflected on the Regional Championship game, “My favorite memory was pitching in the semi-state game. Pitching in the semi-state game was intense and exciting. The atmosphere was electric and I felt proud to give it my all and contribute to such an important game.” Bracie led the Mid Southern Conference pitchers in strikeouts during her sophomore campaign and had the second most in the MSC as a junior. She also earned All MSC honors last season as a junior and was honorable mention as a sophomore. She has earned the following team awards as a leader of the Lady Musketeer softball team; 2022 Top pitcher award, 2023 Gold glove winner and Top Pitcher Award, 2024 Top pitcher award, Captain award, CO MVP, Highest Batting percent, Slugging Percent, Highest on base percentage and tied for tops in RBIs. “Bracie has been a triple threat for us for years now. Each season she throws harder and adds accuracy to each pitch, sometimes even adding something new to her arsenal. She is excellent in the batter's box and has always been a great fielder. She is a solid player and continues to strengthen every aspect of her game. Bracie is a fierce competitor and has a desire to win. I am so proud of what she has accomplished so far and look forward to seeing what this season brings. KCC made a great choice with this addition. I am thrilled for Bracie and her family that she will get to continue to play at the next level. I am also excited for Eastern Softball. What a big day!”stated Lady Musketeer Head Coach, Adrienne Patton who was in attendance along with several Lady Musketeer players of the past, present and future and members of the Lady Musketeer softball coaching staff. The East Washington School Corporation and Musketeer Athletics community would like to extend Bracie and her family congratulations while also wishing her nothing but the best as she continues to pursue excellence as a student athlete in her final year as an Eastern Lady Musketeer and next year as a Kankakee Cavalier!
