The Lady Musketeers continue to play well late in the season, now winning their last five out of six matches. Last night, the team set the tone early, securing decisive victories in the first two sets against county rival, West Washington. However, their momentum didn't carry over into the beginning of set three. The Lady Musketeers built a large deficit, but the team showcased incredible resilience and grit, and put together a comeback to complete the sweep and create excitement in the home crowd! Seniors Emma Brawner and Leah Hobson once again anchored the offense at the net, hammering down 11 and 9 kills respectively. Elsie Starrett chipped in 3 kills, while orchestrating the offense with 24 assists. Lilly Gonzalez and Sophia Gibson also fueled the attack with 1 kill apiece, while Hobson and Reagan Wineinger each dished out an assist. From the service line, Aubrey Mollet, Starrett, and Wineinger kept the pressure on with 2 aces each, complemented by an ace from Hobson. Defensively, the Lady Musketeers were solid. Libero Aubrey Mollet put forth excellent effort with a team-high 15 digs. The floor defense was backed by Hobson (12 digs), Starrett (9 digs), Gonzalez (8 digs), Wineinger (5 digs), Gibson (3 digs), and Rylee Whitfield (2 digs). At the net, Gibson and Brawner each shut down the rival attack with a block. The night was full of emotion as the Lady Ms also celebrated "Dig for a Cure" night, honoring friends and family members who have beaten cancer, are battling cancer, or have lost their fight to cancer. Many special moments took place in the AFO arena last night and the night was about so much more than winning a volleyball game. With momentum firmly on their side, the Lady Musketeers travel to Mitchell next Tuesday to launch their postseason run, opening sectional play in a matchup against Paoli.
