The Eastern Musketeer football team traveled to Edinburgh in search of its first win of the year. The M's, playing down two key linemen and a skill position player had to shift some people around to different positions, asking guys to step up for the team. The Musketeers did just that as they ran away with a school record 64 points and a shutout win against the Lancers. The previous points record was 59 points against Clarksville in 2016. Several Musketeers contributed on both sides of the ball. Leading the way was Senior Quarterback, Cordell Hurst who threw for two touchdowns and ran for third. Hurst was 6 for 14 in passing attempts for 122 yards and carried the ball 5 times for 16 more. Senior Kaleb Pacheco ran twice for 71 yards which included a 56 yarder and a touchdown. Several Sophomores got in on the fun lead by Cole Martin's 103 yards on 10 carries, which included a 48 yard touchdown run. Fellow sophomore Kylan Roll found the endzone twice (2 TDs) running for 44 yards on 4 carries. Another sophomore, Boston Lee had 2 carries for 46 yards while sophomore James Caswell ran for 47 yards on his only carry. Senior Eli Houglin and junior Kort Rice chipped in solo runs of 17 and 16 yards respectively. In the receiving game, Lee had 3 receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown, while Houglin scored on a 44 yard pass play. Pacheco had 2 receptions for 39 yards. On the defensive side of the ball, Rice lead the way with 10 tackles, while Caswell and fellow sophomore, Jackson Hoffman had 9 apiece. Sophomores Kylan Roll and Matthew Dansby had 5 tackles each. Senior Asher Kahl had the lone sack for the Musketeers. Kahl, Dansby and Nash Keown each had a tackle for loss for the M's. Lee and Hurst both had interceptions for the Musketeer defense. The Musketeers turn their focus to this Friday's Homecoming game with the Eastern Greene Thunderbirds. The M's escaped Greene County last year with their lone win, a 14-12 triumph. Kick-off is tentatively set for 7 pm as the next heat wave could factor into game plans. Homecoming and the Musketeer Brigade's performance are slated for halftime. The Musketeers record sits at 1-3 heading into Week 5 of the season.
