Addison Smith receives Marion Crawley Scholarship from IBCA and Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award from IHSAA

Lady Musketeer senior basketball player, Addison Smith received the Marion Crawley Scholarship from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association. Smith was one of sixteen girl basketball players from across the state to receive the award. Criteria for the award includes achievement in basketball, academics, participation in extracurricular activities and service to one's school and community. Crawley was a former four-time boys basketball state championship coach--two with the Washington Hatchets and two with the Lafayette Jefferson Brochos as he won 644 career games. Later, he became the first executive director of the IBCA from 1970-74 and served as assistant executive director from 1974-1982 when he passed away. Smith was also the 2026 recipient of the Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award for 2A at this year's state finals, which is awarded as an annual honor presented by the Indiana High School Athletic Association to a senior female basketball player in each class who participates in the state finals. The award is named after the late Patricia L. Roy, a former IHSAA assistant commissioner who was a pioneer of girls' athletics and oversaw the girls' basketball state tournament from its inception in 1976 until her retirement in 1999. Addison finished her high school basketball career with 1,323 points, 339 career steals and 327 career assists while earning Academic All State, All Conference, All District and All State Honorable Mention as he she helped the Lady M's to the 2026 2A State Championship. In addition to basketball, Addison also participated in volleyball, track, softball, National Honor Society and FCA at Eastern High School.
