Lady M's #1 Singles player, Sidney Burton, has signed with Indiana University Southeast to continue her academic and athletic career as a Grenadier. Indiana Southeast is a member of the NAIA and the River States Conference and has been a very successful tennis program over the years. The Grenadiers are lead by Coach Clif Winchell, who was in attendance along with Sidney's family, friends and teammates from various sports. Sidney shared: "I chose to join IUS because it comes with a lot of opportunity and I felt God calling me to go there. They are a strong team and I know they will make my time there really fun while challenging me. I plan to major in Graphic Design and I am looking forward to making new friends and whatever God has in store for me." Burton helped lead the Lady Musketeers tennis program to the school's first ever sectional title in Girls Tennis during her junior season and was also the #1 Singles Sectional Champion in 2025. Sidney has also played major roles in the Lady M's volleyball and basketball program's recent success. In volleyball, Sidney helped lead the Lady Musketeers to a Southern Athletic Conference title, two sectional titles and a regional championship while playing middle hitter the past two seasons. As a standout basketball player, Sidney was the leading scorer and rebounder for the Lady Musketeers who went on to win the IHSAA 2A State Championship in February. Sidney became the school's record holder for points in a single season and joined the 1000 point club finishing with 1163 points on her career. Sidney also earned Academic All State recognitions in both volleyball and basketball, while earning All State Honorable Mention in basketball. Sidney has been an outstanding, multi-sport student athlete for Eastern and has left her mark as a Lady Musketeer student athlete and member of the Eastern community. She and the Lady M's tennis team will defend their sectional titles in a few weeks at the Floyd Central tennis sectional. Best of luck Sidney!
