Eastern High School

Eastern freshman, Bryson Engle, earned All SAC honors with his conference win in the 144 lbs weight class at the 1st ever Southern Athletic Conference Wrestling Championship meet. In the championship match, Bryson wrestled Gabriel Myers from Borden and won by Tech Fall win an impressive score of 26-8. The match went deep into the third period before tech fall occurred at 5 minutes 18 seconds. Bryson scored a 3 point takedown in the first 2 minute period that went unanswered by Borden's Myers. The second period started with Borden choosing top, which allowed Bryson to score a 2 point reversal and Borden earned a 1 point penalty. Third period started with Engle choosing the neutral position, which allowed him to take advantage of getting another 3 point takedown. The third period continued with Engle allowing his opponent to earn a 1 point escape so Engle could take him down again for 3 points. That pattern repeated itself until Engle earned 15 or more points above his opponents score. Bryson is the M's 1st ever Southern Athletic Conference individual champion and All Conference team member. The program has had numerous of the same distinction, but in the Mid Southern Conference, as Eastern switched conferences this past year.
