Musketeers battle back at Borden, but fall to Braves

By Sean Smith | Nov 28, 2025 12:32 PM

The Musketeers opened up their season at Borden in both the season and SAC opener. The inexperience of this squad showed in the first quarter as they fell behind 18-8 after the first frame. In the second quarter, the team settled in a little more and went into the locker down 29-21 after a Jeff Fowler 3 pt shot at the buzzer. In the 3rd quarter, the Musketeers continued to battle back cutting the lead to 35-31 heading into the 4th quarter. Their run continued early into the final frame as they momentarily took the lead 41-40 on a Trenton Friedmeyer free throw, but the Braves answered quickly and regained the lead that they would not relinquish again as the Musketeers fell 53-43. Overall, it was a great effort by both teams. The Musketeers inexperience showed early and late, but they also showed a lot of grit and fight. Fowler lead the way with 16 pts after hitting 4 threes. Brody Temple chipped in 11 pts, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Gavin Hurst hit two big threes for the Musketeers in the second half. The Musketeers will host West Washington on Friday and Crothersville on Saturday at the All For One Arena.
